How Butcher's Hook
earned its first sales
through ChatGPT.

A brand-new premium meat delivery business with a beautiful Shopify store and zero search visibility. No backlinks. No schema. No H1 tags. We rebuilt the technical foundation from scratch — and within two weeks, the first sales started coming through ChatGPT.

The challenge.

Butcher's Hook launched with an elegant vision — premium Canadian veal, beef and lamb delivered direct to customers, with vertically integrated quality control. The Shopify store looked beautiful. It was also completely invisible. No domain authority. No backlinks. No schema. Pages averaging 200 words. Zero H1 tags anywhere on the site.

— 02

The approach.

Six moves running in parallel — technical foundation, intent mapping, content depth, trust building, conversion optimization, and Google's June 2025 People First alignment.

PILLAR 01

Custom Liquid foundation.

Hand-coded H1 tags, schema markup, heading hierarchy and internal linking via Shopify Liquid. The technical foundation Shopify themes don't ship with.

PILLAR 02

Commercial intent.

Ahrefs-driven research targeting low-KD commercial keywords with geographic modifiers. Each page mapped to a specific buying-intent query.

PILLAR 03

Content depth.

Expanded average page content from 200 to 1,000+ words — sourcing details, preparation guidance, FAQ, nutritional info. Five times the depth, properly structured.

PILLAR 04

Trust signals.

Dynamic partnership marquee with Alberta ranchers, customer testimonials, satisfaction guarantees, eco-packaging messaging — the proof premium customers expect.

What we actually did.

Four implementation phases over eight weeks.

3.1

Technical audit & foundation.

The audit surfaced the obvious: zero H1 tags, no schema, 200-word pages, no semantic structure, no internal linking. Implementation hand-coded H1s and heading hierarchy via Shopify Liquid (themes don't get this right by default), added comprehensive schema markup (LocalBusiness, Product, Organization), restructured URLs around target keywords, and rewrote every alt text descriptively.

Set up Google Search Console, Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity from day one — measurement infrastructure first, optimization second.

3.2

Commercial keyword mapping.

Analyzed competitors ranking for meat delivery terms in Canada. Identified gap keywords where a new domain could realistically compete. Filtered to KD under 30 — viable for a brand-new site. Prioritized commercial and transactional intent over informational. Added geographic modifiers for local dominance.

Mapped specific keywords to specific pages: homepage targeted "premium meat delivery canada," beef collection went after "buy grass fed beef online canada," veal tomahawk product page targeted "veal tomahawk steak canada," prime rib targeted "bone in prime rib delivery."

3.3

Content development.

Every page got the same framework: opening value prop with target keyword in the first 100 words, detailed sourcing and quality information, preparation and cooking guidance, nutritional and sustainability detail, storage and delivery info, FAQ addressing actual purchase concerns. Average page content went from 200 to 1,000+ words — five times the depth.

Cross-checked against Google's People First Content documentation. Verified first-hand expertise was demonstrated. Aligned with the June 2025 algorithm quality guidelines.

3.4

Trust & conversion.

Custom Liquid built a dynamic partnership marquee showcasing the Alberta ranchers behind the products — concrete provenance, not vague claims. Customer testimonials were added with specific product mentions. Trust badges for secure checkout, satisfaction guarantee policies, eco-friendly packaging messaging.

CTAs were rewritten with action-oriented copy. Strategic above-the-fold placement. Color contrast tuned for visibility. Mobile sizing optimized. Checkout simplified. Microsoft Clarity tracked scroll depth, click heatmaps and session recordings — every iteration was driven by real user behavior.
